Spring 2007 Newsletter

Once again the winter is fast disappearing and the snow and salt should, hopefully, soon be gone. Then it’ll be time to dust off the bikes and leathers and get back into the swing of things. With any luck we’ll have remembered how to ride since last year.

We’re looking forward to a full calendar of events this year with, hopefully, something for everyone. The season kicks off with Castle Combe on Monday 23rd April. The intention is to gather at the Crown for dinner the evening before as is our usual tradition. If you’re staying or just eating at the Crown please tell them that you wish to dine with the Folly so that they can lay a suitably large table. The telephone no. for the Crown is 01249 782229.

The rest of the calendar is detailed below and can also be found on our website. For those of you who haven’t visited our website recently you can now book your trackdays online. Details of the booking process can be found under ‘How to Book’ in the ‘Bookings & Events’ section. If you experience any problems just drop us an email or give us a call on the Folly telephone number.

2007 Calendar

  • Monday 23 April Castle Combe
  • Tuesday 15 May Mallory Park
  • Monday 11 June Cadwell Park
  • Tuesday 3 July Oulton Park
  • Tuesday 7 August Mallory Park
  • Tuesday 11 September Donington Park (GP - noisy)
  • Monday 1 October Rockingham (National)

Where possible we have tried to get dates on a Monday to enable people to travel to the event on a Sunday and thus avoid having to waste a day’s holiday travelling.

Please note that MSV will be doing static noise tests on all bikes at all of their venues this year. While this is normal for Oulton Park it is new for the other circuits. At our days this will be 105db measured at ½ metre at an angle of 45 degrees and at ¾ maximum rpm.

We have two new instructors for 2007 - Kevin Sweeney and Stuart Stevenson. Kevin is a serving police officer and grade 1 advanced rider. He also races a GSXR1000 in the New Era open class. Stuart raced in motocross in the early nineties and also won the EMRA roadstocks championship in 1998 and 1999. Check them both out on our website.

Grip-n-Rip the tyre and spares people will be attending the events. If you need to order anything for a particular day give them a call on 07808 943458.

EDP Photo News will also be attending so that you can get that spectacular knee down shot. Nigel does prints on the day or alternatively you can order from their website at www.edpphoto.com.

As always we rely on your support to make the year a success, so spread the word and convince you friends that they’ll have a great day out and go home with a big smile on their faces. We look forward to seeing you all at the events.
