Spring Message 2008

SPRING MESSAGE 2008

After a pretty cold and wet start to the year our fingers are crossed for some better weather for the 2008 season with memories of the 2007 monsoon summer now sufficiently faded.

Hopefully you are all raring to go with bikes fettled, trailers polished and leathers suitably stretched to allow for that extra half inch on the waist.

The season kicks off with Castle Combe on Monday 21st April, and includes a guest appearance by Maria Costello who holds the lap record around the Isle of Man TT course for a female rider. Maria will be available in the morning for advice and general guidance on and off the track.

On the evening before the intention is to gather at the Crown for dinner, as is our usual tradition. If you’re staying or just eating at the Crown please tell them that you wish to dine with the Folly so that they can lay a suitably large table.

We also have a Rockingham event in August and a second visit to Castle Combe in September. All events are now available on the online store. Details of the booking process can be found under ‘How to Book’ in the ‘Bookings & Events’ section on the website. If you experience any problems just drop us an email or give us a call on the Folly telephone number.

2008 Calendar

  • Monday 21 April - Castle Combe
  • Monday 4 August - Rockingham (National)
  • Monday 15 September - Castle Combe

This year all dates are on a Monday to enable people to travel to the event on a Sunday and thus avoid having to waste a day’s holiday travelling.

There will be the usual strict noise testing at Castle Combe and our Rockingham day has the normal 105db limit which seems to be pretty much the norm for most venues these days.

Our instructors for this year are Woody and Roger. Woody also has a full schedule of road racing events in 2008 which include the Southern 100 and TT races on the Isle of Man.

Grip-n-Rip the tyre and spares people will be attending the events. If you need to order anything for a particular day give them a call on 07831 342851.

EDP Photo News will also be attending so that you can get that spectacular knee down shot. Nigel does prints on the day or alternatively you can order from their website at www.edpphoto.com.

As always we rely on your support to make the year a success, so spread the word and convince you friends that they’ll have a great day out and go home with a big smile on their faces. We look forward to seeing you all at the events.
