We believe our attitude to novices to be one of our strongest points.
It's important to us that novices enjoy their day and go home wanting to
come again. Here are some of the reasons that you should chose the Folly
if you are new to trackdays or want more help and consideration than you
have found elsewhere.
The novice group gets its own briefing before the
day starts. This covers procedures, safety and riding skills. Copies of
our own "Novice Guide to Trackday Riding" are available free of charge.
The briefing gives members of the group the opportunity to meet and
subsequently recognise the people they will be riding with.
At 9:40am
they should be ready for their first session which will be twenty
minutes in smaller groups initially following instructors at road speeds
with no overtaking - boring but essential. This session teaches where
the corners are and the correct lines to use. At 10:40am for twenty
minutes and for twenty minutes an hour thereafter they are on their own
on the circuit able to overtake and be overtaken. Officers will be
circulating with them to watch for dangerous or inconsiderate riding or
those who are so good they need moving up a group.
There is a
non-compulsory debrief after the 10:40am session. Thereafter officers
and instructors will be available all day for hints, tips and one-to-one
on-track instruction if required - all without charge.
